Once Again, An Election Day That is Completely Unauditable
The question, really, is what if? What if the vote is too close to call? What if the machines break down (these scenarios are endless and in many cases a reality)? What if one of the candidates calls for a recount or an audit? Once again, an election day comes and goes yet these questions remain unanswered.
Tonight at 7:30 PM ET, Voice of the Voters! & American Voices team up for a special 90 minute report, “Around PA In 90 Minute — Citizen Journalists Report on PA Primary.” Millions of Pennsylvanians voted on Tuesday, yet almost all voted on machines with no paper trail and no audit system in place. In other words, they voted on a machine with no way of knowing if their vote was recorded correctly and no way to audit the machine - no access to software and no voter verifiable paper trail. Ask the machine for the vote tally and it will give you the same one over and over again without any system of checks in place.
Questions for tonight’s show:
- Why is Pennsylvania now being called the Invisible State; portents for the future?
- Were voters able to vote or turned away? Why?
- Was there any indication of “Operation Chaos”?
- What was impact of the so-called “fleeing voter”?
- Were machine breakdowns common and how were they handled? Lines?
- Were provisional and emergency ballots available?
- What “anomalies” did voters and poll watchers notice?
- What were voters most serious concerns both in voting and issues for 2008?
- What have we learned about the State of PA Elections and Potential Impact on November?
