Now That It’s Over

By Mary Mancini

We’ve been told time and time again that the issue of the integrity of the 2008 has taken a backseat to the Democratic primary horse race. "Wait until June," they tell us, "then we’ll cover the stories of missing names in vote reporting software in New Jersey, the failure of ES&S Touch-Screen Voting System in Arkansas, and the myriad of problems during the Pennsylvania primary. Only time will tell if we can count on the corporate media to keep their word.

But! Since there’s not enough time to wait for Regis and Kelly to call, it’s a good thing we have writers like Bryan Newbury who can help sound the alarm whenever they darn well feel like it….on their blogs. In writing about Uncounted for the documentaryfilms.net site, Bryan entertainingly weaves The Onion’s satirical Diebold piece (To some, funny - to others, not so much) in with appropriate outrage and alarm at those who have been "been hitting the snooze button for about a decade." For flair, he also adds his own call to action and a bit o’ the historical context:

One can almost feel the tingling, as the ghosts of strongmen and box stuffers throughout the ages, from Chicago to New Orleans and beyond, simultaneously quiver with admiration and kick themselves with envy while witnessing the myriad of methods used to attain scandalous levels of voter disenfranchisement.

Say it, brother.
